Call and Response: Changing Light in Transparency

 For this assignment I was prtnered with Katie, and we loved the space we were in and thoght it had an amazing view. With this we wanted to give the space a new life by making the bugs who might not be seen or noticed, the main focus of the space. Inspired by childrens books like the 'hungry catarpillar' we wanted to make the silhouettes colorful and simple, vinyl was the perfect material for this. It as fun/tricky to get some of the bugs up because of the parts, shapes, and position of them. Overall this was a very fun poject and very fun to work with a partner.

  Can be one of the biggest aids to us as humans, but how much do you DEPEND on it in our day to day life. How much of that dependency holds us back from growing to what God has planned for us. How much of our life is consumed by watching the screen and living a digital life rather than the physical one we are actually in. We can get so wrapped up in the screen and how they can help us or how fun it is, we forget we have to unplug to reconnect. Often getting stuck in our own head, it is so easy to fall into the comfort of constant dopamine and feeling like you need to be in the know. But what God has planned for our lives is to live in HIS creation, which is eternal, not the temporary thrill of the internet.  Phone representing the short life span of what we find on the phone an how that can steal our attention from what is truly eternal.

Lost Childhod Object

  I found this project extremely healing, not only from seeing my own cherished object but from learning about others objects as well. When we first got the prompt for the project I immediately knew the memory  that had the strongest emotional impact for me, and I'm sure it was the same for others. Using that excitement of remembering my object, I wanted to better understand my FEELINGS partner, Elena's Story and her object. It was fascinating to see how some of the same emotions were brought up from such different stories and how vividly they are recalled. I could see her story and feel what she was going through at the time and thinking about how reconnecting with that object might feel, was a joyous experience and made working on the project that more meaningful.     Seeing my own object was definitely healing as I stated before, regardless of how accurate it was to the actual object. Measuring Histories

Memory Can- This was made to track my family history of what was passed down in my imediate family. There was not much from prior generations other than stories, and perhaps that will be all I have to give as well; But this is a representation of the stories that went through my family as we had to move from houses, apartments, motels, and grandparents houses. Often happeing through unfortunate events such as evictions, financial hardships, or cosmetic problems in the house all forcing m family of 8 to relocate in the spir of the moment, not knowing where we would end up next or how. Because of this we were not able to hold on to many belongings and had to get rid of a lot and keep what was necessary for our next location. Only keeping pictures, random paperwork, art projects, notebooks, and MANY other miscellaneous items my mom saw as valuable. The Can is supposed to represent a trash can and how many of these things were seen as trash by almost everyone in the family except my mother...
